Growing up as a “quirky” kid I often struggled to find where I fit into a group. This meant that I spent a lot of time observing others and developed a great interest for people and how they think. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by people who encouraged me to embrace my differences, find my strengths, and go for my goals. Though I faced a lot of pushback from others who were confused when I did not fit their mold, it allowed me to gain a great appreciation for those who think outside the box. Each of us is a distinctive human being with a brain full of differing experiences of the world around us. These differences allow us to develop unique approaches to living in this world. These are the underlying beliefs I brought with me when I became a therapist.

My ongoing interest in others and how they work led to my pursuit of a psychology degree. While working on my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Chatham University, I began exploring what populations I’d like to work with as a therapist. It was no shock to me that I was drawn to those who venture outside the norm. I began by working with neurodiverse children and teens. I did so as a school based therapist, as well as assistant director at Quest Therapeutic camps. Over the years, I have developed a great admiration for and understanding of individuals who embrace being their truest selves. I now work mostly with teens and young adults who are neurodiverse, LGBTQ+, or both!

As your therapist, I will work with you to explore your emotions and the things you find difficult, while also looking for your strengths. By identifying what comes easily to you and what you enjoy, we can work together to use those talents to lessen the load of what weighs you down. I prefer a collaborative approach as I believe you know yourself best. By forming a foundation of a trusting and understanding relationship, we can work together to explore and better understand what holds you back from reaching your goals. With an emphasis on your strengths and what it is you wish to accomplish, together we can form a plan to get you there.
